The Epidemic Of Tobacco ; Why Should You Quit Smoking                        In the Philippines, 17.3 million adults (28 percent of the population) use tobacco. Men (48 percent) smoke at a higher rate than women (9 percent ). In their homes, 55 percent of adolescents (ages 13-15) and 40 percent of adults are exposed to second-hand smoke.  Every year, approximately 110,000 Filipinos die as a result of tobacco-related diseases. Tobacco smoke is responsible for approximately 21.8 percent of male deaths and 9.7 percent of female deaths (18.6 percent overall). Tobacco is responsible for more than 23% of male deaths and 12% of female deaths (16.6 percent overall).
